The different worktop woods
Oak, beech, bamboo ... there are a multitude of woods to make your worktop, but they do not all have the same specifications. To be sure you have a robust worktop, turn to oak, maple or bamboo. Recognized for their longevity, it is still important to protect them to improve their resistance to water! To give an exotic side to your kitchen, go for bamboo. But if you want your worktop to brighten up the kitchen with a clear look, choose the pretty blond beech wood instead.
Vitrify your wooden worktop
Have you just installed a brand new wooden worktop in your kitchen but are you afraid that it will be damaged by contact with water? Remember to vitrify it! To do this, clean it thoroughly with a slightly damp sponge, then apply the sealer with a vitrifying brush. The trick is to brush your work plan always in the direction of the grain of the wood for a successful result. For optimal protection, you can make two to three layers!
Maintenance of the wooden worktop
The wooden worktop gives a real cachet to the kitchen but it also requires a lot of maintenance! Once protected with a sealer, it is necessary to clean it regularly with a soft damp cloth, and, if necessary, washing up liquid and black soap. If some non-greasy stains have become encrusted here and there, use a grandmother's tip to remove them: lime! If, on the other hand, they are greasy stains, place two to three sheets of paper towel and use a hot iron. If despite these two remedies, the stains persist, use fine sandpaper, rub gently, then protect again with the varnish. Here it is like new!
